My name is Michael Alexander, I'm a 47 year old engineer, and currently live in the village of Thorney. I have lived in Peterborough all my life.
I am married and have 5 children, the youngest is 13, and the eldest are both 20.
I have stood for election in this ward before, most recently in last year's by-election.
I believe that people and communities matter, and that all people from all backgrounds should have a voice in how our city is run. If elected local councillor for the Eye Thorney & Newborough ward, I will fight against austerity and its cuts to public services. I will try to keep libraries and community centres open, support community projects and endeavour to help people from different backgrounds and cultures learn from each other and live in harmony.
The last seven years have seen the poor and sick demonised by the government, whilst those who caused the recession continue to receive all the riches.
We need to stand together and ensure we have a fairer society.
My hobbies and interests include spending time with my family, writing children's stories and gardening.
