Greens everywhere believe that the precious but fragile natural environment on which we all depend for our wellbeing, and ultimately our survival, is under severe threat. Respect for the environment is therefore at the very heart of our thinking.

Our political agenda is broadly based and addresses the needs of individuals in all aspects of their lives. Please use the link to our main website if you would like to find out more about national party policy.

The policies of Peterborough Greens are guided by the following principles.

1 Humankind depends on the diversity of the natural world for its existence

2 The Earth's physical resources are finite. We threaten our future if we try to live beyond those means

3 A healthy society is based on voluntary co-operation between individuals, free from discrimination

4 Democracy means taking decisions at the closest possible level to those affected by them

5 The success of a society cannot be measured by economic indicators alone but should take account of factors affecting the quality of life for all people: personal freedom, social equity, health, happiness and human fulfilment

6 Changes in both values and lifestyles are fundamental to a radical Green agenda

Public Events

Following a review of our activities, local party members have recently decided to hold a series of talks, as well as other public events, in place of our monthly open meetings. These events will be held at regular intervals and will be publicised as widely as possible, including on the Events page of this website. Everyone will be welcome and please look out for details. These activities will normally afford opportunities for potential members to chat informally with party members if they wish.

How you can help us

If you'd like to help the local party, there are a number of ways you can do this. We rely all year round on volunteers who are able to deliver newsletters and leaflets in their area or assist with local campaigns and fundraising. At election times, we need people who are willing to put up posters, deliver yet more newsletters and leaflets or lend a hand with polling station telling.

Join/Donate

You may wish to consider joining the party. New members are always welcome.

Or you may wish to make a donation. We rely heavily on donations from private individuals as we do not accept donations from large business organisations.

If you're interested in doing any of the above, please click on the Contact, Join or Donate tab for relevant information.
